More LED TVs To Come To The Market

VentureBeat has called into question whether the manufactures of the new LED TVs are shooting themselves in the foot by suggesting that new TV buyers could end up saving the extra $1000 or so that it takes to buy a new LED TV with reduced energy costs - and I'm inclined to agree.

When many of us buy a piece of kit such as a new Laser TV the primary reason for us to part with our cash isn't for any altruistic, planet-saving reason - more often or not its an ego thing. Often big-ticket purchases like these are driven by the desire to "out do" your close circle. I do believe, however, that having a hook to hang "getting it passed the missus" is very worthwhile. Men will at least pretend to care about the ice caps and global warming, when in fact, they're more concerned with having a flashy TV to play Halo on!

As we're coming to expect from Samsung, its new LED set is superbly stocked with connections, too. Four v1.3 HDMIs set a great early pace, and these are joined by such other highlights as a component video input, a dedicated analogue PC input and, significantly, USB 2.0 and Ethernet ports.

We have to say, just a few moments spent with the Samsung 40B7000 have really impressed us. Everything about it is slick. The Yahoo widgets are simply amazing to use, and look beautiful. The TV itself feels rock-solid, looks epic and has pretty much every extra you're likely to need for a long time.
