Toshiba & Panasonic To Double OLED Lifespan

The Sony's XEL-1 TV apparently only had a lifespan of 30,000 hours which is crap if you're waiting to watch Liverpool win a Premiership title - so the guys at Toshiba and Panasonic, obviously being scouse fans, have worked hard to increase the lifespan of the product to 50,00 hours.

But to be honest, 30,000 is still a shit load of TV. On five hours a day, it'll last 16 years. I don't know about you, but I buy a new TV every 3/4 years! If it comes out in a couple of years I'll be approaching 50 by then and will be out on the golf course all day and won't be caring about any crap on the box!

Too HD It'll Make You Sick!

You gotta love these people! We all crave super-realistic TV - so realistic you can see if you feel you'll be able to actually land the punch when you see Gordon Brown on the news - but when it comes around we'll feel sick! Well for me that happens anyway, but the "news" is that the new super HD which is expected to boast a resolution of 7680x4230 will be so realistic, it may make you puke!

The guys at NHK Japan say it'll cause motion sickness - well you can't make it more realistic than that can you?

Right, come back to me with a real problem!

Sony Unveils OLED TV

Sony has unveiled its "thinnest, brightest TV ever sold". At at just 3mm thick I'm sure it'll be a hit. But how the heck did they manage to manufacture it?

Mitsubishi Laser TV Unveiled

The moon room of the The Palms Hotel Casino, Nevada was where Mitsubishi launched its laser HDTV. And it wasn't any ordinary Laser HDTV, it was the 65-inch laser HDTV that they wowed the audience with!

It does look fantastic, but until you've compared it side-by-side with your ordinary, bog-standard HDTV, I'm not sure if you could see a huge difference.

According to Mitsubishi it gives twice as much colour as this year's HDTVs.

BBC Piece On The Laser TV

Me 'ole mucker Rory just had a nice pice on the new technologies launching soon and featured the laser tv at the very begining - shame he didn't show more of it!

You can see some of the gadgets at the CES show that he mentioned here.
