More LED TVs To Come To The Market

VentureBeat has called into question whether the manufactures of the new LED TVs are shooting themselves in the foot by suggesting that new TV buyers could end up saving the extra $1000 or so that it takes to buy a new LED TV with reduced energy costs - and I'm inclined to agree.

When many of us buy a piece of kit such as a new Laser TV the primary reason for us to part with our cash isn't for any altruistic, planet-saving reason - more often or not its an ego thing. Often big-ticket purchases like these are driven by the desire to "out do" your close circle. I do believe, however, that having a hook to hang "getting it passed the missus" is very worthwhile. Men will at least pretend to care about the ice caps and global warming, when in fact, they're more concerned with having a flashy TV to play Halo on!

As we're coming to expect from Samsung, its new LED set is superbly stocked with connections, too. Four v1.3 HDMIs set a great early pace, and these are joined by such other highlights as a component video input, a dedicated analogue PC input and, significantly, USB 2.0 and Ethernet ports.

* CNET - ?

We have to say, just a few moments spent with the Samsung 40B7000 have really impressed us. Everything about it is slick. The Yahoo widgets are simply amazing to use, and look beautiful. The TV itself feels rock-solid, looks epic and has pretty much every extra you're likely to need for a long time.

Laser TV Customers: "Well To Do"

Don't you just love the BBC? If everyone can't have it, then no one should have it!

In their recent review of CES 2009 they commented about the prices of the new Mitsubishi Laser TVs.

However, Nick Norton from Mitsubishi Digital commented on the "monster price" saying "We are a niche company and a premium brand and fortunately our consumers are less impacted by the economic downturn and they have more discretionary income. So yes they are well to do."

LG & Netflix To Hit Apple TV?

I just love LG HDTVs, I've got two as well as about 4 LG monitors, DVD players, home cinema systems - you could almost call me a fan boy!

But the news that LG and Netflix are teaming up to allow you to automatically download Netflix movies from your LG TV without the need for any other gadgetry makes me slightly giddy!

Now, over here in the UK I've only ever used Blockbuster to post me DVDs and I soon got fed up with that as it was too much hassle. But being able to download decent content direct from my TV without having another set-top box would be something I would seriously consider.

But what does it mean for Apple TV? Well I don't see that box setting the world alight! I'm sure LG will team up with other content providers and anyone that loves the flexibility of content on demand which has more variety than the limited supply of content on demand from either Virgin Or Sky.

It's all good stuff from LG in my mind!
